A showing of scary movies may seem like an all-too-common Halloween activity, so curate a collection of movies that tell a bigger story to make your screening stand out. With large-screen TVs so widely available, your venue options are greater than ever. Virtual and hybrid events have recently gained new popularity, with cameras and sound systems allowing you to reach people who may not be able to attend an in-person event. Some events lend themselves to an online event better than others (it’s a challenge to do an online scavenger hunt!). Events with a single focus, such as lectures or workshops, work well online. This is because it’s easy for an online audience to hear a single speaker in a fixed location.
They’re all so cute, even when they’re not wearing their dresses anymore…or even pants! You could go as Ariel from The Little Mermaid, Belle from Beauty and the Beast, Jasmine from Aladdin, or Pocahontas from Pocahontas. Just make sure to wear appropriate footwear for your character. Promote increased interaction on social media by calling out users who are getting close and challenging your audience to beat them at the game.
Kid-friendly movie screening
Ask what’s in their repertoire or request a few songs from our spooky Halloween party playlist. If you've got any irony-loving, dark-humored friends, host a small apocalypse party this Halloween. Gather under the guise of zombies, snacking on gross-out food like witch fingers or lychee eyeballs.
In this 90 minute, facilitated virtual event, teams will work together to decipher clues to track down legendary monsters from all across the world. Feel free to add even more creepy clues to increase the ghostly challenge for your team. Divide your group into smaller teams, give each team the list, and allow a designated amount of time for teams to complete the challenge.
Freeze Dance
We recommend pausing every few minutes to show-off and share progress, which will keep the kids excited and engaged. I Spy is a game of inference that forces players to pay close attention to surroundings. One player picks an object, says “I spy with my little eye, something….” and describes the object. Either tell the tale aloud a few lines at a time, with each guest taking a turn, or compose the story sentence by sentence in the chat. If you type the story, then the activity becomes a race to see which participant can answer first or concoct the craziest response.
Using an online decibel meter like Youlean and your computer’s microphone, measure the intensity of your young guests’ shrieks. Feel free to encourage the kids to shout louder, as long as the neighbors are not nearby! After every attendee has a turn, and you engage in one ear-splitting group screech, award the loudest yowler with a prize. Crafts are a great way to entertain kids during a remote Halloween party, and masks are great crafts. To make the game easier for kids, you and the other adults can plant Halloween objects around your rooms, or use custom holiday-themed backgrounds.
Halloween Candy Goodie Bags
How it works is to freeze every time the music pauses, and whoever moves during the freeze is out! Whatever you do, there’s guaranteed to be lots of LOL moments. If entertaining at home is not ideal, look into booking an event venue or private room at a restaurant. Certain types of venues with their inherent decor and atmosphere are perfect for hosting a Halloween party including a mansion, castle, farm, restaurant or library. Others, such as a banquet hall, loft, or meeting space, provide a blank slate for you to decorate to your heart’s content.
Sticking to your Halloween theme with even the food will take your party up a notch. Gotta have at least a few things for your guests to munch on. For an extravagant All Hallow’s Eve affair, a coast or harbor cruise, or a simple boat party, can quickly become the place to see and be seen.
Halloween Heads Up
Don't wrap toilet paper tightly over players' noses or mouths. Do not use saran wrap, tape, or other strong materials in place of toilet paper. Explain that the object of the race is to be the first player to completely wrap their partner in toilet paper. One team member will be the mummy and the other will be the wrapper. If younger children are playing, feel free to use two wrappers per mummy.
Keep the party engaging and fun rather than just food and drinks. Have games set out, prizes waiting to be claimed, and Halloween music. Always remember when attending a murder mystery party, to stay in character and follow the script given. Halloween costume contests inspire guests to get into the spirit of the evening.
As in much of life and business, you get out of it what you put into it. A social media team can manage the contest for you and capture the all-important data derived from user interactions. No matter which one you choose, taking advantage of holidays is an excellent decision to bOOst your business. Whether you let your audience decide the winner , or judge it yourself, a costume contest for Halloween is a definite excitement generator. From Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, Twitter, and more, costume contests can generate a LOT of likes, shares, and comments. Most everyone has been to a Halloween or even a fall harvest party where you have had the opportunity to dress in costume.
Sure, the holiday is full of magic and mischief, but Halloween wouldn’t be Halloween without overflowing bowls of sweets. Start the trick-or-treating festivities early by transforming your home into a real-life Candy Land. Otherwise, we recommend that you set up a self-serve bar with batched cocktails and a selection of beer, coolers and wine to keep things simple. Choose one or two slow-cooker appetizers that can be prepped the day before and placed in the slow-cooker to cook a few hours before party time. Think spiders, blood-splattered and lots of black and gray for a more deadly look!
What you call it will set the tone for your whole party! Have fun reading through the list and coming up with ideas for your next Halloween party. Having a costume contest at your Halloween partywill encourage your friends to dress up. It will also get them super excited because, let’s admit it, everyone likes to win, even if it is a costume contest prize.
The drawing contest can be a general Halloween theme or, depending on what you sell, you could ask for product placement in the pictures too. A powerful contest that is family-friendly and effective. Connecting your company, products, and services to hashtags on social media is a real win for exposure. Set up a challenge for your customers to compose Halloween-centered hashtags in posts, tweets, etc. But a recipe contest doesn’t have to be exclusive to photos. Anyone that is trick-or-treating starts out at my front door, knocks, yells trick-or-treat, and I give them a treat.
